Welcome to Galant Speed.com!

Welcome to galantspeed.com! This website was created with the sole purpose of helping people transform their automobiles into powerful race and show vehicles. We wanted to provide content that was intellectual and entertaining. We felt that too many websites were being congested with boring to nonexistent content. While others were more interested in selling mundane products rather than provide help to its viewers. We wanted to make a website where people can come and hang out while learn about how to make their cars faster, more fun, and better. This website is for the serious enthusiast that wants to make their cars more powerful and look hotter. If you have any suggestions or would like to help out the website or submit a story by clicking here.

Title : MOD 05- Mitsubishi Owners Day

From SoCal DSM -
I'm here to pass on the news that Mitsu USA is going to throw an event that will invite any mitsu powered, preferably modified cars to it's Headquarters for an official Mitsu Owners Day.

This is an event for DSMs, Starions, Montero, Colt, FTO, 3000 GT, 3rd Gen, 4th Gen Eclipse, Evo, Stealth, Dodge Raider, Plymouth Arrow, Sedia, Greymarket cars, Galants etc.... ALL. Off road, drag, track, street, custom, rally,.. it's all good.

Here's what's official:

MOD'05 APRIL 23rd,.. Mitsubishi HQ at 6420 W. Katella Cypress, CA

The R&D design courtyard/showroom willto all with a design process display, concept cars, production cars (EVO IX, Gen4 Eclipse, Raider)

Car show awards, design office special t-shirts hand outs.

This event is being initiated by Mitsu USA R&D (where some of the fringe element of car culture dwell), though it is wholly by Mitsubishi for the tuner Mitsubishi faithful.

Here's what's still being worked out or needed: Magazines coverage, tuner shops, tuner wear, maybe a dyno (depends on the rumor of XS Engineering or someone having a portable one)

Why are they doing this? Simple R&D guys are young late twenties early thirties car guys that like what we like. Every time they try to do something that they know the real car guy/home tuner likes; they get shot down by accounting, Marketing, CEOs etc.

The idea is. If Ford, Chevy, GM can have a grassroots car following and support it through factory performance parts, books, special edition cars as they have for the last 45 years; why can't Mitsu USA.

Mitsu Japan and UK do a good job of this, Mitsu USA does not.

Idea is to show the bean counters, marketing, and general design teams at Mitsu USA that people want the same factory support and have the same passion for cars as those owners of Corvette, Neon SRT-4, Viper, Camaro, and Mustang do.

Bottom line is it's a chance to show Mitsu USA what we like about their cars and what we hate about their cars.

If all goes well at the event; meaning people actually show up with thier NON-HOOPTY modified Starion, colt, DSM, 3000 GT, EVO Montero, etc.

The R&D guys will them have the capital to do what Mopar, Ford Racing, GM Performance, Ralliart Japan and Mitsu UK do.

Goto http://www.fordracingparts.com and now image that site as having the same info and parts for US Mitsu engines and cars of the 80',90's and 2000. That's what they are trying to convince their bosses of.

Feel free to pass this along to any Mitsu powered car tuner/owner. I'll update info as I get it.

MOD'05 APRIL 23rd,.. Mitsubishi HQ at 6420 W. Katella Cypress, CA

 Title : GalantSpeed Gear

Since I have been recently receiving lots of private messages about tshirts I dedided to go with cafeexpress.com to make the shirts and stuff for the website. So far only the generic logo is being used but I'm planning on adding more nifty designs.

To get some GalantSpeed gear just click on SHOP at the top menu bar. I appreciate any and all purchases that you guys make. Thanks!

 Title : Big in Japan

firespirit writes " Since I have returned home from Japan I have noticed that drifting has become HUGE! You almost can't go on to any import car website (and some domestic) without seeing something about drifting. Nissan 240s and 350s, Rx-7s & 8s, and even a Viper and a El Camino. Drifting has become an international sensation and has spawned America's own Formula D and Drift U.S.A competitions. As many of you know drifting has been around for a while in Japan so I started to view it as an everyday type of thing kind of like drag here.

It seems that a new craze in Japan might start sweeping over the US soon...I'm talking about "Time Attack" which really is nothing more than running around a track trying to get the best time. This is huge in Japan, and has some of the most interesting tuned cars I've ever seen. Big companies like HKS, Trust, and even manufacturer performance like Nismo and Mazdaspeed have created cars for many of the Time Attack events. It started out as just another form of racing for the track that was safe for everyone to participate in. Over the past couple of years its evolved into major events, like drifting went from mountain passes to the D1 Grand Prix.

As I said about the cars one that I think everyone here at Galantspeed will like is HKS time attack beast that is completely made of carbon fiber. You can see the car on HKS' website! This looks to be the next craze in import racing since a few of the regions in the SCCA have started time attack styled events, and with a break down of clesses who knows mabye we could see a Galant as a time attack racer! Sport Compact car has also started the time attack events earlier this year with a Skyline taking top honors over a Ferrari, and Sparco's EVO VIII. Not saying that drifting is a fad like the fasion from France, but this looks to be the next big thing from Japan. Who knows for sure but either way if time attack catches on here to warrant events it will definately be fun! "
