The Fast and The Furious for Xbox and PS2

Just read in my latest EGM (the Metroid cover) that they plan to release a video game based on the 2001 Summer hit "The Fast and The Furious". I have pretty low expectations but it would be interesting to see how it comes out. Theres no way the game's playability will be anywhere near the infamous Gran Turismo series of racing games. I think it may reflect more of the Dream/Xtreme Racer games.
Wouldn't it be cool if it were more like a Grand Theft Auto style game where you could play as Dominic and run up to Brian O'Conner and woop his ass repeatedly for his Green Eclipse? Or play as Johnny Tran and get Mia into the S2000 and park in a dark alleyway to get your hitpoints up. Of course woop her ass afterwards to get your money back too. Hahaha.
The game is supposed to be debuting around the same time as the sequel to "The Fast and The Furious" which we expect to be around Summer of 2003.
