Mitsubishi Mtrs shares suspended after Daimler news

TOKYO, April 23 (Reuters) - The Tokyo Stock Exchange on Friday suspended
trading in shares of Mitsubishi Motors Corp (7211.T: Quote, Profile,
Research) as of 8.20 a.m. (2320 GMT) after its biggest shareholder,
DaimlerChrysler AG (DCXGn.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) , said it would pull
out of the ailing Japanese auto maker.
Shares in Mitsubishi Motors closed at 321 yen on Thursday.
Mitsubishi Motors had been widely been expected to receive a bail-out
package of about 700 billion yen ($6.40 billion), mainly through a capital
injection from the German-U.S. auto maker and the Mitsubishi group.
It said it had no comment on DaimlerChrysler's announcement.
Spokesmen at Mitsubishi Corp (8058.T: Quote, Profile, Research) and
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd (7011.T: Quote, Profile, Research) , the
other main shareholders in Mitsubishi Motors, said they had only just heard
the DaimlerChrysler news and could not immediately comment. ($1=109.36 yen)
